The Western Cope is an airship which travels over the gulf of Mexico between New Orleans and Havana (but which ends up in Port Royal instead) see Caribbean Airship Pirates.
Airships in and around the Caribbean are fast and inexpensive. However, they are also the target of desperate pirates; mid-flight Passepartout and Fogg are captured and the airship is redirected to Port Royal.
