The Sugawara is a Japanese steamship which sails from Yokohama to Manila.
Events
The Sugawara is led by Captain Hirosue, a woman who was born in a family of samurais; as such, she carries a Katana. If Passepartout has bought a similar one, Captain Hirosue will tell him that his is "for tourists". Passepartout later finds her praying at the Protestant chapel and learns of her fierce loyalty to revolutionary forces in Japan, so much so that she fights against her own family. The sword belonged to her grandfather in a time before women where allowed to carry them.
