Passepartout notices, upon reaching Stockholm, that the city is changing its landscape drastically. Land is being dredged by the water and granite buildings are rapidly being built tall.
He and Phileas Fogg meet Sven, a middle-aged Swede who gives them some advice about the journey ahead along with some far-fetched claims about Nordic technology. He admits he makes 'jokes' to tourists to entertain himself, and the two leave him to himself, with Passepartout deciding that he seems like a lonely soul.
If the An Unexpected Proposal scenario is active, Passepartout and Fogg will find Elsa Ekéus knocking on their hotel room door late at night announcing that she wishes to marry Passepartout. They are unsure how to handle her outburst, but end up deciding to take her with them.
