Merv is an inaccessible location in 80 Days. The player may attempt to travel to Merv from Krasnovodsk aboard the military train but will inevitably be redirected to Herat. Trading goods with good sales prices in Merv do not get that price at either Herat or Krasnovodsk - so often get sold for less than they were purchased for.
