Manila is a location in 80 Days. It is the capital city of the Philippines, situated in the South China Sea.
Manila is a typically beautiful island city and ideally situated as a hub for travel through the southern hemisphere, but during the events of the game, it is wrung by an outbreak of cholera.
Passepartout and Fogg arrive shortly after a devastating typhoon. As such, travel through Manila can prove hazardous as the port can be prone to outbreaks of Cholera, so it is important that Passepartout ensures his master drinks only boiled water. This is only possible is Passepartout is already a competent valet (as shown by the "Valeting Skill" if you refer to the overview via the globe icon in the upper left of the screen). Should Fogg contract the disease, the Cholera in Manila scenario will begin, and many days will be lost as he recuperates and boats refuse to take him as a passenger.
Whilst waiting for the next departure, Passepartout can use the local telegraph office to send a sentimental message either to his Maman, a dear friend, or an old lover, or report what he saw in Aswan to Henri de Blowitz (if Passepartout missed the telegraph in Wadi Halfa).
Multiple characters can warn Passepartout of Manila's cholera problem before he sets foot there.
