This is a list of the fastest journey times achieved by players and the routes they took.

Dave (29 Days)[]

Player: Dave

Journey Time: 29 Days

Route: (Seed 6)

London - Paris - Vienna - Warsaw - Moscow - Karimskaya - Pyongyang - Manila - Acapulco - New Orleans - New York - London

Basically you need to get lucky with the Wine in Paris and the Telescope from the Reina Cristina. Also you need to beat Charlie Sullivan to afford the airship to London from New York, and talk to the man on the Warsaw train to speed up the Trans-Siberian. Takes a few tries, so far it seems to only work on Seed 6, though 7 you can get close but just run out of money.

Good Luck

Paul (31 Days)[]

Player : Paul

Journey time : 31 Days

Route map :

London - Paris - Vienna - Warsaw - Moscow - Karimskaya - Pyongyang - Manila - Acapulco - Houston - New Orleans - Washington - Port Delgada - Lisbon

Strategy : buy and sell everything,  hoping you get lucky (bottle of wine did well in Europe). Speed up the trans siberian express. Always bring forward the departures, hope you have the right clothes for comfort and cheapness. Try to leave every town immediately after visiting the market. If you can't afford to get out of Manila immediately you won't make it. Win the boxing match on the train to Washington. You can probably shave a day or two off this by bribing the Washington to port delgada airship to go direct to London,  but you will need £4000 by this point.

Matt (31 Days)[]

Player: Matt

Journey time: 31 Days

London - Paris - Vienna - Warsaw - Moscow - Karimskaya - Pyongyang - Manila - Acapulco - New Orleans - Washington - Ponta Delgada - Lisbon - London

Method: The same route as Paul and Dave. Probably the fastest route as you don't make too many connections. I'm not to familiar with the seeds but I've found you can only get a time this fast on this route when the Chateau D'Yquem Wine can be sold in Vienna for a large amount. That's the first indicator of having the right seed. As Paul said buying everything at the markets is the right thing to do. As most of it is sell-able for a good profit later on. When you spill a drink over the lady on the Trans-Siberian Railway demand to buy her tea then press the Ottoman Man to tell you about the Faster Speed of the Train. This allows to get an earlier train from Karimskaya to Pyongyang meaning you don't have to stay in a hotel until Acapulco. Spend as little time in Manila as Possible as Fogg getting Cholera ruins your run as you are often dropped of in Honolulu broke. I think you have to leave straight away to avoid it but I'm not sure. Bribe the captain to go into Acapulco as going to Panama ruins the run. And finally Don't bribe the capain of the Washington to Ponta Delgada Airship as It takes longer due to events and then either go direct to London if the timing is right (The direct rocket was in 5 days for me) and you have enough money or go via Lisbon.

Moosana (31 Days)[]

  • Player: Moosana
  • Journey Time: 31 Days

Route: London - Paris - Vienna - Warsaw - Moscow - Karimskaya - Pyongyang - Manila - Acapulco - Houston - New Orleans - New York - London

The route follows nearly the same path as that of Dave and Paul, with a few additional notes:

  • After selling the Chateau d'Yquem Wine in Vienna (only possible on Seed VI and Seed VII, though my best time on Seed VII was one day slower, since I had to stop for a couple days in Acapulco to wait for funds) and talking to the man on the train to Warsaw in order to speed up the Trans-Siberian as normal, purchase a ticket from Moscow to Irkutsk instead of to Karimskaya. You can stay on the train for one more city, and this will save some funds.
  • To avoid getting cholera upon leaving Manila (and consequently getting stuck in Honolulu), Passepartout's skill must be organised or higher. Various conversation choices in Paris, Moscow, and aboard the Trans-Siberian should give opportunities to improve the skill or avoid degrading it:
    • In Paris, visit the Expedition and visit either the Artificer's Guild and/or the Avenue of Nations, then find out about any airship.
    • In Moscow, stay indoors, answer the questions truthfully, and ask for advice.
    • In Warsaw, avoid remarking on any comedic timing.
    • Aboard the Trans-Siberian, board calmly in Moscow and watch the train pull away in Karimskaya.
  • When arriving in Acapulco, there will still be three days to wait for the Caleche to New Orleans, but only one to wait for the Caleche to Houston. Heading to Houston, in this case, is the better choice; it will allow you to get to New Orleans early enough to make a near-immediate connection to the Piedmont Air-Line.
  • If you managed to sell everything correctly and purchased the ticket to Irkutsk instead of Karimskaya, you should have enough funds to purchase the Trombone in New Orleans as well as the ticket on the Piedmont Air-Line to New York, which will allow you to sell both the Trombone and the Brass Telescope (from the Reina Christina) in that city, allowing you to travel on the Henrietta to London with over a thousand pounds to spare, without having to win the boxing match!

For the convenience of anyone else attempting to make the same run, you may wish to peruse this guide I have made. It gives details on precisely what to buy and sell in each city, as well as what dialogue choices to make where necessary to improve skills or unlock routes, for maximal efficiency.

KillerFrenchFry (33 Days)[]

Player: KillerFrenchFry

Journey time: 33 Days

Route Map:

London - Paris - Istanbul - Tehran - Kabul - Agra - Calcutta - Singapore - Manila - Acapulco - New Orleans - Washington - Ponta Delgada - Lisbon - London

You'll need to leave every city as quickly as possible (this can be done at no extra cost on most of the routes taken) and get lucky with trade goods.

James (34 Days)[]

Player: James

Journey time: 34 days

Seed 2

Route: London,Paris,Vienna,Warsaw,Moscow,Irkutsk,Urga,Yokohama,Honolulu,Acapulco,NewOrleans,NewYork,London

Important points:Get through Europe as quickly as possible, there is no point checking the market stalls. Speed up the trans siberian by speaking to the driver about Rosa. Make sure you get the balalaika by mingling with the soldiers as this will make sure you can afford the journey all the way to New York. Be sneaky and board the train to beijing from irkustk, but disembark at Urga for the garuda to Yokohama. MAKE SURE you discover the experimental craft to honolulu before you get to yokohama by using the wait button whenever possible, as it canoot be discovered by exploring. I had to restart twice because of this. Also, the boat to SanFran is too expensive, and solving the murder mystery will give you free passage to acapulco. Buy the treasure map in acapulco and win the boxing match, you should have enough money to go straight to London from New York on the Henrietta. Give yourself a pat on the back. P.S. Don't be too proud to sleep rough if you're worried about money. If you fail the boxing match, quit the game whilst still in the speech bubble and start again.

Zyme (34 Days)[]

Player: Zyme, BSN, RN

Seed: VI

Route: https://www.inklestudios.com/80days/journeys/?id=2xAH9kGtZw&playerName=Zyme,%20RN,%20BSN,&platform=desktop

London, Paris, Vienna, Warsaw, Moscow, Karimskaya, Pyongyang, Manila, Acapulco, New Orleans, NYC, London

Getting out to the Trans-Siberian through Warsaw via Vienna ASAP is key, getting lucky on the sell-ables (note I got the wine and paints I could stock up on cash Paris-Vienna). Note sleeping rough can save some precious funds early while Fogg is at full health. Talking to the Russian gentlemen on the Vienna to Warsaw leg about the Trans-Siberian, he will hint that is can be sped up.Once on the train out of Moscow tip the attendant (or ply him with vodka like I did) make sure to follow Rosa when the option is open then talk to the driver about it, he will speed up the train. Make sure to not ply too deep into Rosa or you will get kicked off early, best to just sing and enjoy everyone else's company for extra trade goods. Once you bounce down into Korea and depart for Manila, do not joke about being american or that ship turns right around. In Manila I had my greatest difficulty as three times I stayed overnight Fogg got malaria. I had to spend what funds I had to get an immediate departure to Acapulco. Putting on your big boy pants and climbing the rigging gets you a super important telescope that you can sell for your passage back to England. Using some thoroughly ungentlemanly rough sown french ensign flying from the Reina Christina to sneak in find a way out up to New Orleans. Mortgaging everything not named the telescope and a railroad table. I boarded the NYC train with 7 Pounds to my name. Win the Boxing match nets you a cool lump of cash and with the remainder you get from selling the telescope and the rest of your possessions you return in style on the nonstop to London with plenty of time to spare!

Bee (36 Days)[]

Player: Bee

Journey time: 36 days

Route:

London - Paris - Vienna - Warsaw - Moscow - Karimskaya - Pyongyang - Manila - Acapulco - New Orleans - New York - London

Method:

Same route as Dave, on seed 7. You'll get the wine in Paris to sell in Vienna, speak to the man on the Warsaw train to learn about the speed of the Trans-Siberian, and talk to the driver about Rosa. Make sure to distract Rosa's mom from Rosa so you don't get repercussions from telling her. You need to attend to Fogg on journeys as often as possible, raising your valeting skill in order to unlock the option to have him drink boiled water in Manila. If you don't get the option, the run is doomed unless you somehow manage to leave Manila immediately. Brass telescope from getting to Acapulco will sell in New York to pay for the airship. Beat Sullivan, mostly by blocking, light punches whenever he blocks, and Fogg will cue you in for heavy hits. This run depends a lot on luck. Don't buy any items for Fogg, only items that can trade for more money. Good luck!

Kytsuine (36 Days)[]

Player: Kytsuine

Journey time: 36 days

Route:

London, Paris, Vienna, Warsaw, Moscow, Irkutsk, Urga, Yokohama, Honolulu, San Francisco, New York, London

Method:

Keep the English Gentleman's Outfit intact - it will speed departure for free on major railways, which are the primary means of transport on this route. Do this whenever possible. Choose the option to Wait whenever possible until you read news of an experimental craft out of Yokohama, which cannot be discovered by exploration. On the initial voyage to Paris, speak with Mr. Verne, and discover the route from Paris to Zurich, then from Zurich to Vienna, then from Vienna to Warsaw. You might even discover as far as Moscow, via Minsk! This last part, after Vienna, is useful. In Paris, the World's Fair offers the opportunity to increase valeting skill, which is of assistance when attending to Mr. Fogg. There is an artificer explaining the Guild to children outside the Artificers' Tent. Be polite to him - quiet-fuel-countries-clap-bit much works, for example. This takes no time, as it is within a scripted event.

The Orient Express has one prepaid suitcase - if nothing in Paris will sell down the line, don't purchase wantonly. On board, going out to explore can result in more valet points (such as through the young composer in the dining car.) You must stay the night in Vienna - so look around, and enjoy a leisurely day. I have heard that you can acquire the flute of the flautist located there, though I have not yet learned how. Regardless, head the next day for Warsaw. Talk to the Russian gentleman on the train about the Trans-Siberian Railroad; he will tell you of its true capacity for speed. If you're quick departing Vienna and at the market in Warsaw, it may be possible to catch the train to Moscow a day ahead of my journey. At any of these points, if you have had the opportunity in a market, pick up a Russian gentleman's outfit or cold weather gear; the Trans-Siberian is cold, and maintaining relations with Fogg will ease passages.

On the Trans-Siberian, speak to the captain about speeding up the train. He will reject you the first time you try; afterwards, you can talk to a young lady named Roza, then mention her to the captain. He will speed up the train. If you have read about the experimental craft out of Yokohama, converse with the intent of finding a way from Irkusk to Beijing. Join the soldiers' party and teach them a song - the second option, in my opinion, has better dialogue, but for our purposes, the difference is purely cosmetic. You will gain an instrument with which to torture Mr. Fogg's eardrums - and which sells nicely. Leave the train at Irkutsk. If you know of the train to Beijing, take it as soon as possible. Otherwise explore, then take the train to Beijing as soon as possible.

Leave this train at Urga, and explore the temples. Speak to the monk in red and tell him of your journey. He will tell you of a secret airship travelling to Yokohama - take this airship immediately (unless you're quick enough to check the market before it leaves), and go with the captain when she invites you to explore the ship and sit on the wing.

In Yokohama, you will meet an artisan who will give you a sketch, so long as you engage him in conversation. Do not buy the katana, and if you are at the baggage limit for the passage to Honolulu, clear a space for a two-width wrench to arrive unbidden, courtesy of a rich friend. On board the boat, someone will die. Investigate this successfully, and the passage to San Francisco will be significantly easier on the pocketbook.

In Honolulu, go for a tour about the island, and reflect on peace. It's good for the constitution. En route to San Francisco, the flavor text has little bearing on your journey, but is still nice. Discuss the passage on to Salt Lake City - it'll go a lot farther for you than that.

In the States, hop on the Transcontinental to New York, and prepare to be robbed. Put up a token resistance for yourself (I used a revolver I was planning to sell in New York), then come to the rescue of Fogg. I did this by identifying myself as his valet, then punching James. This resulted in a return of the funds lost in the initial encounter, and left me with enough (after the sale of the revolver) to fly directly to London at the end of the line.
