James Smythe is a character in 80 Days. He is a British diplomat in Kabul who enlists the aid of Passepartout and Phileas Fogg.
Background[]
Smythe is stationed in Kabul. He apparently enlisted Sybil into the service of the British government to prevent her getting into significant trouble after she was caught pickpocketing in Whitechapel.
Role[]
While in Kabul, Passepartout and Fogg are forced into Smyth's office. He asks them to accompany Sybil on an airship to Omsk.
