Diamond Shard is a trading item in 80 Days. During the trip on Cetshwayo's airship to either Ulundi to Antananarivo or Ulundi to Bhayi, you can take apart a lizard or polecat leaving you with a Diamond Shard. Although it is called a shard, the nuns in Madras were not interested in it (unlike the Broken Shard and the Venetian Glass). Not sure why or if it is random...
If this item is still in your possession when you return victoriously to the Reform Club the club butler will place it over the mantle (unless he likes something else better).
