Brisbane: The Moreton Bay Courier

Alrighty, I'll kick this board off.

Does anyone know what to do re: delivering the Murri girls' letter to the Moreton Bay Courier in Brisbane?

In my last play through I got her to show me the letter, but no matter what I did she said she couldn't trust me and put it back in her pocket.

Then the next day I ran into the submariner with the broken leg who asked me to take her notice to the Moreton Bay Courier, walked all the way there, lost it, came all the way back, you know the drill.

Anyway it all amounted to nothing, and I assume this web of events must be in the game for some reason. Does anyone know what to do?

This problem is, at once, the best and the worst part of the game. Keeps me replaying but so frustrating if the answer is that there is no answer!

I've been having the same problem but may have one more relevant piece of info. After giving up and leaving Brisbane I took the home made hot air balloon to Aukland (and it crashed)- in the newspaper the following day headline reads something like 'balloon pilot sends suicide note to local paper'. Now I'm wondering if there's a way to refuse to get on the balloon and deliver his letter instead. I don't know if that would help the submariner (still don't see how its possible to keep hold of her letter) but may be an alternate route to the maid?

Don't think so, I'm pretty sure it's unique to Brisbane. But maybe you could buy it before speaking to the Murri girl?

Nope, I managed to buy the didgeridoo before going to the hotel. It didn't open up any more options.

What if helping De Blowitz and getting a report filed in The Times help your cause? (What if the option shows up for the hotel girl that 'I've did this and that.' if you complete that quest successfully.)

I've been looking on other forums, and we've found more items that don't work: Batavia Drill Plan, Rebel Flag, Zouave Braid, and the Communist Manifesto.

Nope, there's an IGN article on the web listing various challenges and how few people have managed to find them (at the time of writing). I would think the latter numbers were based on Inkle data obtained during an interview, and one of the challenges was specifically called:

"Save a sailor from an amputation"

I don't think Inkle would have let them publish the line, if there was no quest like that. And currently, we have newspaper clippings that the guy dies from surgery complications.

ATTENTION! Everybody who might still out there trying to do this - a guy from the Touch Arcade forums contacted Inkle Studios and they officially confirmed to him that it is NOT possible to save the submariner's life in Brisbane. (So I guess it's indeed the life lesson as someone indicated here.)

The "Save a sailor from an amputation" quest I've mentioned above refers to a different sailor, but the guys did not tell us which one.
